Sustainability

The worrying state of global warming has affected our coffee farmers in recent years, as a further rise in temperature of just one degree Celcius could be irreversibly devastating. This concern propelled our efforts in making a positive impact to help the environment and reduce pollution on a daily basis, for the future of coffee, the next generation, humanity, and ultimately: the well-being of our planet. While we acknowledge the steps we take might be small, we believe it is fundamental to our long-term existence, given the fact that coffee is a crop which is impacted by social and environmental factors.

Below are a list of our initiatives and collaborations:

REFORESTATION PROJECT

BUMITERRA

Coffee is a carbon-intensive product, from the processing to logistics, roasting and brewing. As part of our commitment to be responsible for our carbon emissions, Tanamera is working with Bumiterra for carbon offset, reforestation and empowering villagers through our 2ha project in Kalimantan.

PROCESSING FARM MODEL

GIZ GERMANY

We work hand-in-hand with local farmers, providing them with the support and resources needed to grow the highest quality coffee beans.

Tanamera invests in improving farming infrastructure, from processing facilities to modern equipment, helping farmers produce the best coffee possible. Our commitment to innovation enhances quality while preserving the unique characteristics of each coffee.

By investing in these relationships, we ensure our coffee meets the highest standards, enhancing the quality and flavour that our customers expect. This dedication to excellence strengthens the bond between Tanamera and the communities we serve, fostering long-term growth and mutual success

In 2018, Tanamera created a scaleable coffee processing model, in cooperation with GIZ Germany, providing work and economic benefit for 100 farmers around Kintamani since 2018.

This model is made widely available as a result of the cooperation, with the aim of being adopted in other coffee plantations to improve the yield and quality of coffee produced by farmers, ensuring a stable supply of specialty grade coffee for future years. At the same time, it is hoped that the adoption of the model will lead to improved income for the people around the processing farm for generations.

CAFE INTERIOR DESIGN

ALDO FELIX STUDIO

In every Tanamera outlet, we strive to incorporate sustainable materials to inspire our visitors to consider their sustainability practices. For example, we have adopted chairs made of rattan (bamboo) which are fast-growing and durable and not a result of deforestation.

We have also adopted unique materials such as recycled plastic tabletops and stools made using upcycled cigarette waste which provide a unique appearance while utilising materials that would have otherwise ended up in landfills.
